Description

Stylized, human representations, mostly made of wood and glazed with acrylic paint. The sizes of the sculptures vary from larger than life to knee height. Their movements are minimal and at the same time concentrated. The fact that they are standing on the floor gives the viewer the opportunity to relate to them directly.

Without any grand gestures, they are intended to create an impression of stillness and clarity in the room and throw the viewer back on themselves to a certain extent. The strong physical presence due to the material on the one hand, coupled with the pale painting of the sculptures and a facial expression that does not reveal a clear state of mind, is intended to radiate a feeling of rapture.

My aim is to draw the viewer into the scene I have set, similar to a role-playing game, and to allow them to enter into a silent dialog with the figure against the background of the spatial arrangement. How does the respective size of a figure and its relationship to the space influence the communication with the viewer? With each new work, it is this question that interests me and which I constantly re-examine.
