Description

Blerta Hashani (b. 1997, Ferizaj, Kosovo) is a visual artist working across painting, drawing and photography, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Prishtina. Her practice is rooted in an exploration of mysticism and symbolism, shaped by a refined sensitivity to light, color, and material. Through an ongoing investigation into the relationship between body, land, memory, and perception, she approaches image-making as a process of accumulation, where gesture, material, and time are layered rather than resolved. Grounded in her immediate environment, her work reflects everyday rhythms and the natural landscape, translating inner impulses into minimal and sensitive visual forms. Within this framework, she develops what she defines as “third landscapes” spaces that emerge between the physical and the internal while maintaining a process-driven and open-ended approach that continuously returns to the land as a site for re-seeing, re-feeling, and re-imagining the image.

Recent exhibitions include The Sun on the Blades of Grass (Bazament, Tirana), Unfolding Currents: The Pulse of Time (Autostrada Biennale, Prizren), Cicërimat në Mjegull (ARKIV – Institute of Contemporary Art, Pejë), MEMORIZONIM(LambdaLambdaLambda, Prishtina), Silent Threads Resounding Kosova (Galleria Continua, Paris), A Story upon the Green (Mill of Nazif, Mirash), Jahresgaben(Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn), and New Grand(Manifesta 14, Prishtina). She has participated in residency programs across Europe, including Milvus Artistic Research Center (Sweden) and Kulturpunkt PROGR (Switzerland), and was nominated for the “Artists of Tomorrow” Award in Prishtina. She lives and works in Mirash.

Increasingly recognized on the international stage, Hashani was included in Art Basel’s list of “10 Newcomers to Discover.”Her work stands as an example of a new generation of painters who are advancing the medium through sensitive, reduced, and yet deeply compelling visual worlds.
