Is art, among other things, a means of grasping the complexity of our world? as a process that thematizes, visualizes and interprets, is it also a tool in the search for answers? in the attempt to formulate the world for themselves, in the best case, artists also succeed in offering an option of wanting to understand. A process of self-perception stimulated by another’s perspective.
The works created by Christa Filser in the last two years only appear to map the world formally. In reality, however, the artist captures a world seen with her inner eye, which threatens to slip away from us more and more, and constantly questions it: a view from above, a bird’s eye view dominates the works on paper and collages of the last two years, which are transformed into an abstract, harmonious collection of patterns, colors and lines. As a kind of counter-reaction to the turmoil of today’s world, the artist’s new works are characterized by clarity and tranquillity, dispensing with bold pictorial commentary and yet taking a stance on current events with subtle metaphors.
