Lucía Cristóbal Marín’s intention is to explore the process of perception in order to understand the reality that surrounds us through the medium of the image. It is above all the transformation of our social and contemporary culture that inspires her. She finds many of her motifs and images in modern media such as the Internet, TV and magazines. From these fragmentary set pieces, she draws the intention of a momentary determination, which she embeds in a color world of the tones white, blue and gray, through which she assigns a new lightness and statement to the media section of her works.
By simply looking at his pictures, Sebastian Herzau immediately puts us in the role of voyeurs by letting people look through a slightly transparent veil or showing them through a steamed-up pane of glass. The direct eye contact between the viewer and the subjects creates an intimacy desired by the artist that pushes the boundaries of the mysterious. His pictures pose the question of whether one trusts one’s own gaze or turns mentally to what one believes to recognize.
The expressive and lively bronze sculptures by Teresa Riba are juxtaposed. The artist combines this classical sculpting technique of bronze casting with the themes of our young global information and communication society. Through the precise study and exact reproduction of posture and the immediately visible mental and emotional expression of the sculptures, life is immediately breathed into the protagonists. Through the coloration of the works, the artist is able to create the impression of feeling connected to these young people. Her figures show the technological progress in the form of smartphones and iPhones to which this generation seems to be addicted. This modern image of a society poses questions about interpersonal connections with one another or shows us the way into the isolation of our emotional world. The heaviness and hardness of the metal bronze intensifies this tension if you let yourself get involved with it.
In music, the “triad” is an indispensable basis for the entire theory of harmony. This also applies to art. Thus, these three artists harmonize wonderfully together and are like three tones sounding simultaneously, symbolizing the emotional contact between them and the viewer.
