Malgosia Jankowska’s delicate ink drawings radiate an Arcadian, mysterious tenderness. In her picture stories, she repeatedly depicts children and animals interacting with each other in a shared familiarity in nature. Her landscapes suggest an idyll, which, however, also raises questions at second glance. The mysterious and mystical atmosphere also has something naturally threatening about it – the forest and nature tolerate humans, they are just a part of something bigger.
Malgosia Jankowska was born in 1978 in Sochaczew, Poland. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. She has lived and worked in Berlin since 2001.
